There’s a new (old) Sheriff in town!
Sheriff Blaylock's Six Shooter Sauces
In our ongoing quest to bring you the most unique shopping experience anywhere, Crossroads-Market searches high and low for interesting products most of you can’t get at your local stores. We first discovered Sheriff Blaylock in of all places, a hot dog stand at Minute Maid Park, the home of the Houston Astros. The chili is a mainstay at the ballpark and is just outstanding. When we got a taste of the sauces described below, well let’s just say we needed to find out who the heck this Sheriff Blaylock was! The following is an excerpt from the Milan (TX) County Sheriff’s website:
“Blaylock moved with his family to Cameron, Texas in 1915 and served as deputy sheriff. He became the eleventh sheriff to serve Milam County since 1874. Blaylock was a rugged, red haired veteran who was able and eager to meet danger as a regular requirement. He was fair, impartial, but firm and resolute when necessary. Because of his spirit of neighborness, he made many friends and gained the respect of all of the citizens of Milam County. Sheriff Blaylock is the grandfather of former Cameron resident Drayton McLane, owner of the Houston Astros. With the family’s blessing, the chili served at the Astro’s ballpark is named for him ”Sheriff Blaylock’s Chili”. “

Well summer is in full swing and from Houston, Texas where I write this post, it has reached “miserable” hot much sooner than usual.
